What This Certification Means
AS9100B is the industry quality standard for aircraft and aerospace suppliers. The standard is based on ISO 9100:2000, but also contains over 80 additional requirements that are specific to the industry. The focus of AS9100B is on comprehensive quality assurance through management to provide product safety and reliability. Registration in applicable AS9100 standards has become a very important factor in maintaining high quality standards in the aerospace industry. Amongst other things, AS9100B requires a process approach with procedures for quality assurance, continual improvement of the company's management, and a dedicated focus on the customer.
