Specifications
Kato Tangless and
Tanged CoilThread Inserts are precision-engineered products that have been
put through rigorous torque, tension, and vibration test; as well
as comprehensive dimensional inspections, and metallurgical
analysis in attaining their MIL-Spec qualifications.
Kato CoilThread Inserts have been
thoroughly tested by an independent testing laboratories and are
certified to conform to NASM8846 (MIL-I-8846). A copy of
these
reports are available by contacting the
Kato
Tech-Group.
In addition, CoilThread
Inserts and Tools are in conformance with the following military
standards and other specifications listed below.

Special Notes:
- The Military Standard (MS) drawings covering Unified size Tanged
inserts have been superseded by National Aerospace Standard
drawings (NAS) with an "M" suffix designating that it
was previously a military drawing. Following are the affected
standards:
NASM122076-122115, NASM122116-122155, NASM122156-122195, NASM122196-122235, NASM122236-122275, NASM124651-124690, NASM124691-124730, NASM124731-124770, NASM124771-124810, NASM124811-124850, NASM21209, and NASM8846.
- Specification MS33537 covering
installation dimensions has now been superseded by NASM33537 standard.
- *MS21208 has for some time been
superseded by MS122076 & MS124651 series. Although CoilThread inserts
conform to MS21208 all documentation and certification denotes the
current standards (NASM122076 & NASM124651 series) and not MS21208
for particular part numbers. MS21208 is only referenced in the
Certificate of Compliance (C of C).
- Sound confusing? It isn't
really. For Example: Specification MS21209 is now
NASM21209, and MS122076-MS122115 is now NASM122076-NASM122115.
The good news
is that the individual part numbers on the new NASM drawings did
not change. They still carry the MS prefix. For Example:
MS21209-C0415 remains unchanged, and MS122076 remains MS122076.
