Filter-Regulator-Lubricator for Kato Air Tools!
The filter
cleans and removes moisture from the air, the regulator controls the air
pressure, and the lubricator provides a steady source of oil to the air
motor. Learn more about the Kato Filter-Regulator-Lubricator in the
Tangless and
Tanged air tool pages.

KATO Tangless CoilThread Inserts
KATO has been manufacturing
Tangless CoilThread inserts for over 15 years!
Tangless CoilThread
inserts are made of cold-rolled 304 stainless steel wire (AS7245),
work-hardened to a tensile strength above 200,000 psi, and a
hardness of Rc 43-50. The finished surface (8-16 micro-inches)
is exceedingly smooth, virtually eliminating friction-induced thread
erosion.
When assembled with STI-tapped
holes, Tangless CoilThread inserts form Unified Coarse, or Unified Fine
threads that conform to the National Bureau of Standards Handbook
H-28, Screw-Thread Standards for Federal Services, Classes 2B and
3B. Assembled Tangless CoilThread inserts will also accommodate UNJ,
MIL-S-8879, male threaded fasteners. Metric Tangless CoilThread inserts
conform to National Bureau of Standards Handbook H-28/21, M Profile,
Tolerance Classes 4H5H or 5H, as well as ISO standards 68, 261, R724
and 965/I. Assembled Metric Tangless CoilThread inserts will also accommodate MJ,
AS1370, male threaded fasteners. |

KATO Tangless inserts
give you all the benefits, features and performance of conventional
tanged inserts. In fact, KATO Tangless inserts are identical
in form fit and function to conventional tanged inserts. The
only thing missing from KATO Tangless inserts are the tangs!
Here is where
Tangless CoilThread Inserts stand out from all other
helically-coiled inserts. Instead of a tang, tangless inserts
feature a unique, ramped driving notch on the inside diameter of the
first coil on each end of the insert (see diagram below).
To drive the insert we developed an
innovative installation tool with a patented, internal, spring
-loaded pawl located at the tip of the tools mandrel. During
Installation, this hooked pawl locks into the Insert Driving Notch
and rotates the insert into the tapped hole. The pawl then
retracts into the mandrel to allow the tool to back out of the
installed insert.

The spring-loaded pawl within the
installation tool engages the driving notch to install the insert.
The chamfered ends of the insert allow the insert to smoothly enter
the tapped hole.
|
|
Once the insert is
driven to the proper depth, the installation tool automatically
reverses rotation. The pawl slides back into the tool's recess as
the mandrel unscrews from the installed insert.

Troublesome
Tangs: You Can't Lose What you Don't Have!
Conventional helically-coiled
inserts need tangs for installation. But once installed, loose
tangs become potentially hazardous. They require special
tools, time consuming breaking off and removal, and careful watch.
Even with care, tangs unavoidably disappear into expensive
equipment, often showing up later causing considerable damage to
electrical and mechanical components. In some application,
every tiny, loose tang has to be carefully accounted for. But
you can't lose what you don't have, so we eliminated the tangs
altogether. With KATO Tangless® Inserts you'll never have to
remove or look for another lost tang. And every minute you're
not looking for tangs is time towards increased productivity and
increased profits
